The province is helping reduce the risk of wildfires by replacing burning permits with an online restrictions map (www.Novascotia.ca/burnsafe). You can also call 1-855-564-2876(BURN). Burning permits are still required within the Town of Lunenburg and can be obtained from the Fire Department Superintendent during regular business hours. Before burning, it is still recommended to visit the provincial website to check burning conditions for the area, but also take local conditions such as wind into consideration. To obtain a permit, please call 634-8343.
On June 27, 2016 a Consumer Fireworks Restriction (Advisory) was issued by the Office of the Fire Marshall.
