 Electric Utility Employment Opportunities

The Town of Lunenburg, along Nova Scotia’s beautiful South Shore, owns and operates its own Electric Utility which provides services to over 2000 residential and commercial customers. We have two available positions qualified applicants are encouraged to apply for.

Lead Hand

The Town of Lunenburg Electric Utility is seeking a Lead Hand who will provide leadership to ensure reliable electric service for its citizens and businesses planning for both short and long term initiatives. The Lead Hand is responsible for the oversight and performance of Utility work including installation and maintenance of overhead distribution, substation, streetlights and related infrastructure. Live line work experience is an asset.

Qualifications: Journeyman Power Line Technician with supervisory experience. Class III Nova Scotia Motor Vehicle License with air brake endorsement. Demonstrated technical service delivery, safety training, and a strong customer service orientation.

Power Line Technician

The Utility is also seeking a Power Line Technician. This position is responsible for the general maintenance of the Utility, its distribution lines, and all related operations under the direction of the Lead Hand.

Qualifications: Journeyman PLT skilled in the maintenance and operation of overhead and other Utility equipment. You must hold a Class III Nova Scotia Motor Vehicle License with air brake endorsement to operate Utility vehicles.

Deputy Chief Administrative Officer - Town of Lunenburg, Nova Scotia

The Town of Lunenburg is located along the scenic south shore of Nova Scotia, about one hour from Halifax and the international airport. This historic town was designated a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1995 for its unique architecture and civic design. It is often referred to as the most beautiful small town in Canada and each year attracts many thousands of visitors to its cultural sites, museums, restaurants, and galleries. The Town is also home to numerous businesses where high-tech companies work alongside traditional fishing and manufacturing companies.

On their behalf, we are seeking a Deputy Chief Administrative Officer (full-time, permanent). Responsibilities include:

  • ensuring efficient and accessible local government through the development and implementation of policies and programs;
  • public procurement management;
  • Town Council and Committees coordination and communication; and
  • Strategic Plan and budget implementation.

Water Resource Operator

The Town of Lunenburg seeks an experienced individual for the operation and maintenance of the Town’s Water Treatment (WT) and Waste Water Treatment (WWT) Plants, control systems, pumping stations, bio-solids, screen house, reservoirs, chlorinators and associated infrastructure. The applicant must have good organizational skills, be team oriented and experienced in water and waste water treatment facilities. Preference will be given to individuals with certification in: WT (Level II) and WWT (Level II).
