Town of Lunenburg

Emma Cochrane, a highly respected dance instructor from this area, will offer the following daily classes at the Lunenburg Community Centre during the week of August 9 - 13 :

CREATIVE MOVEMENT 1 - ( 3 - 5 years) , 10:00 - 10:45 a.m.

An introductory class where children are encouraged to use free expression and will have the chance to sample the basics of ballet while using a variety of Disney music, characterization and props. ( maximum of 8 )

CREATIVE MOVEMENT 2 - ( 3 - 5 years ), 10:45 - 11:30 a.m. for returning dancers from previous classes. ( Maximum of 8 )

BEGINNER TAP AND JAZZ - ( 5 - 6 years ), 11:30 - 12:15 p.m.

Tap class will focus on learning a variety of beginner rhythms, steps, and combinations. Jazz is an exciting dance form in which students will explore jumps, turns, and isolations to a variety of music. ( maximum of 10 )

LEVEL 1 BALLET, TAP AND JAZZ - ( 7 - 9 YEARS ) , 12:30 - 2:00 P.M.

Students will work on strength, balance and coordination while learning a variety of movements and combinations to classical and contemporary music. Students will learn a piece of choreography and present it at the end of the week. ( Maximum of 10 )

( 10 - 12 years) 2:00 - 3:30 p.m.

In addition to Ballet, Tap and Jazz, Hip-Hop is a high energy class that uses songs from the High School Musical, the Jonas Brothers and other contemporary artists, Hip-Hop increases coordination, musicality and creativity. A piece of choreography will be presented at the end of the week. ( maximum of 12 )

TEEN CONTEMPORARY AND JAZZ FUNK - ( 13+ years) 3:30 - 5:00 pm

A mixture of technical jazz and street jazz with a creative flare. Students will learn diverse combinations and choreography to many hit songs from the popular television show "Glee" and present a piece of choreography at the end of the week. ( max - 10 )

COST : For full week - 45 minute class - $35.00; 1.5 hour class - $45.00
